HELP PLEASE Service Pack 3 UNINSTALL PROBLEM
Please upgrade the operating system to service pack 3" appears everytime I try to install free zone alarm firewall. The best method of installing SP3 is to go to the Windows Update website and download if from there. If you have a broadband connection, it goes fast. In any of these cases please read the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article. A last resort would be a repair installation of Windows XP, followed by applying Service Pack 2 once more. I am sorry I came here at the end of a busy day, and was confused by "This tool has been tested ..." What tool? Your Windows Update history just keeps a record of all the previous updates you made.

By uninstalling SP3 , windows should roll back to your previous service pack level. I had not seen that link yet. But it seems like from there I'd still have to get to the Microsoft Update site, so I guess I'm missing the distinction you're making. To check whether the BlOS is at the correct level download the Intel Processor Frequency ID utility from http://support.intel.com/support/processors/tools/frequencyid/.
If you cannot or don't want to uninstall Service Pack 2, you can perform a repair installation of Windows XP. Unfortunately, one spyware scanner is not enough.
